San Antonio Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. With Week of Events

The San Antonio community is gearing up for the 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. March and Celebration with a week of events leading up to the main march on Monday, January 20th. A variety of activities are planned, including a worship service, youth empowerment summit, wreath-laying ceremony, interfaith worship service, and early morning worship program.

Teens have their day on Saturday, Jan. 18th with the MLK Youth Empowerment Summit at St. Phillips College. Pre-registered participants will receive a special Spurs-related surprise. The event starts at 9 a.m. and will include food and games with a special focus on aviation and aerospace.The MLK Wreath-Laying Ceremony will take place on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Martin Luther King Plaza on N New Braunfels and E Houston Street.

The MLK pre-march early morning worship program will take place at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20 at 3501 Martin Luther King Drive. Participants are asked to bring nonperishable food items to donate to the San Antonio Food Bank.
