Fire crews responded to a two-alarm fire, later upgraded to a three-alarm fire, at an industrial area of Salt Lake City 's west side.According to the Salt Lake City Fire Department, the incident happened in the area of 1700 South and 1100 West, where fire crews could be seen dowsing flames at what first appears to be an empty lot adjacent to shipping containers .
However, a closer look at the scene shows that, what appears to be the smoldering rubble in a parking lot was actually a two-vehicle garage area of an industrial hose business.By 2 a.m., crews had the incident under control, though authorities had closed off roadways around the scene and were asking the public to stay away.
"1700 South is closed from 1000 West to the Jordan River," according to a statement posted to the SLCFD social media. "Please avoid the area." Officials did not provide details on the location or what the cause of the fire was. The business was not named in statements from the department. The business listed at the location of the fire, which matches the exterior of the building seen in the Salt Lake City Fire Department's photo, is Western Industrial Parts Inc.
