Residents of Desborough were welcomed to their brand new Sainsbury's store yesterday, February 7, as the shop finally opened to the public for the first time.
MP for Kettering Philip Hollobone joined colleagues, customers and local councillors to celebrate the store’s launch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony .The Neighbourhood Hub store is sized between a convenience store and supermarket and specifically designed to give customers access to everything for a weekly shop. Sainsbury's Desborough Harborough Road is open between 7am and 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Alongside food, the new store also includes a Click and Collect service where customers can collect Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing products they've ordered online. Those visiting can also grab a hot drink on the go via a Costa Coffee machine. Desborough's latest shopping destination is the ninth Neighbourhood Hub in the Sainsbury's estate and the first one to be constructed from scratch. It will also be powered by 100% renewable electricity, including solar panels on the roof to help the store generate its own electricity.
