Ryan Garcia looks big ahead of his scrap with Devin Haney on Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
While he looks to be in great shape, there is noticeable muscle mass, leading to concerns he’ll be heavier than the 140-pound weight limit allowed to challenge for Haney’s WBC Super Lightweight title. Another reporter asked Garcia if he knew how much he weighed at the moment, and the fighter responded, “yes, 141,” before flexing for those in attendance. During the same video, Haney arrives and speaks to the media. When asked what he thought about Garcia’s weight, Haney says,"He looked heavy, right?”
A reporter asked De La Hoya if the depletion was evident when Garcia lost to Gervonta Davis in April 2023. De La Hoya didn’t hesitate to draw a connection to that weight cut and use it to validate Garcia’s fitness for the upcoming clash with Haney.
