Ryan Garcia proved Saturday night that he not only chews up B-level competition, but he is a bonafide contender in boxing’s lightweight division.
He spent most of the evening chasing his much smaller opponent around the ring, unable to close the show.“If I would have pressed him harder in the beginning, I might have gotten him out of there, but wat can I say?” Garcia said. “But I had to track him down the whole fight. I could have cut the ring off better.”
Garcia nearly ended it in the second round, flooring Tagoe with a right hand to the face as Tagoe was off-balance and again in the 10th. San Antonio’s lone representative on the 10-bout card, featherweight Gregorio “Goyo” Morales, endured a disappointing evening.
