As it stands, Wilson’s pedigree is what has made Tomlin comfortable with starting him and listing him in that spot. Meanwhile, he has often referred to this as a great opportunity to Fields to learn, but things could change if Fields impresses in stadium. While this is talked about as a competition, it does seem like Wilson has to do a considerable amount to lose it rather than Fields must do to simply win it. All of that lines up, and the Steelers have operated throughout training camp like Wilson is listed as the starter.
