Travis Etienne is hands-down the Jaguars' offensive MVP of the first half of the season, as the second-year rusher — finally healthy — repeats the feats from Clemson days.
"It’s been cool to see everybody realize this dude is legit," Lawrence said. "I think that’s how everybody is feeling right now around the league ... certainly our whole team and staff have a lot of confidence in him and just continuing to put the ball in his hands and let him make plays. That’s what he does best, and it’s been exciting to watch him.”
Etienne said he's never lost five games in a season in high school or at Clemson, let alone five in a row. But he hasn't lost hope for a salvageable season. At his current pace, Etienne would become the Jaguars' fifth 1,000-yard rusher in history, after Fred Taylor, Maurice Jones-Drew, Leonard Fournette and James Robinson. His yards-per-carry average, if it stays above would be a tie for the team record of 5.7 set in 2006 by Jones-Drew.
