Despite being on the edge of a chic shopping center with luxury shops and high-end spas and Instagrammable streetscapes, Rosie McCann’s became a destination for those looking for a more laid-back atmosphere. “It became sort of a safe place for me,” said Mendelson, a Silicon Valley engineer who grew up on the East Coast. “I didn’t want to come home to an empty apartment.”
