Mike DeWine to declare a state of emergency for the county.CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne on Saturday urged Ohio Gov.
Four tornadoes hit parts of Cuyahoga County on Tuesday afternoon. A wave of hard rains and high winds preceded the tornadoes, as the storms destroyed power lines, ripped the roofs off buildings and uprooted large trees. On Saturday, four days later, more than 73,000 people were still without power. “We anticipate that number could be reached soon, but, in the meantime, we urge that the threshold be waived,” Ronayne said.
In a formal proclamation, DeWine ordered and authorized “all state departments and agencies to be at the ready and to utilize their personnel and resources as necessary to protect the lives, safety, health, and property of the citizens of Ohio and to assist with recovery efforts in communities impacted by this severe weather event if needed and requested by local authorities.”
