Patrick Botello, 36, was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for conspiring to smuggle meth into Pelican Bay State Prison in 2017.
SACRAMENTO — A federal judge has sentenced a Rodeo gang member to 11 years in prison for a plot to smuggle “balloons” of heroin and methamphetamine into Pelican Bay State Prison in 2017, court records show.
Botello was serving a 40 years to life sentence for murdering 16-year-old Dominic Porter, a Vacaville resident, at a Pinole house party in 2007. The teen had recently moved to California from Ohio and was attending Will C. Wood High School, this newspaper reported at the time. Botello allegedly shot him in the head.
The crime was discovered because of an FBI wiretap related to Operation Silent Night, a Woodland-based investigation that resulted in federal charges against 27 people.
