It wouldn't be a Rock Hall weekend without a little drama!
Foreigner's original drummer, Dennis Elliot, said he will not be participating in the band's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The dummer took to Facebook Thursday to announce he will not be attending the ceremony Saturday.
“Dear Foreigner Fans & Friends, Don’t look too hard, we will not be there,” Elliot wrote. “We were finally given the schedule last night, and it is not to our satisfaction. So we are staying home. We have been asking for this for weeks, and they have waited until the very last minute to send it knowing we were all packed and going to bed.”Elliot, 74, went on to say the situation is “totally unacceptable” and he hopes the fans “have a good time.
The band posted a message on Facebook confirming Elliot’s planned absence and saying, “original members Lou Gramm, Al Greenwood, and Rick Wills will accept the awards on behalf of the band’s leader and founder Mick Jones, drummer Dennis Elliott, and Ian McDonald and Ed Gagliardi who are no longer with us.”Earlier this year, bassist Rick Wills expressed frustration that it took too long for the band to be inducted.
The rock band will join the hall of fame along with Mary J. Blige, Cher, the Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest in the performer category.
