Law enforcement agencies across the country are short on officers, including right here in Rochester.
Rochester police officers getting ready to address a group of recruits who are interested in joining the force. That's why the Rochester Police Department is trying a new method this year to recruit officers.
"City residents, they're calling 911 and they're waiting hours for officers to get there," explained recruitment officer Michelle Calderon. "It's not that we don't want to be there. It's just we can't be at many different places at once, so we are doing a disservice to the city of Rochester residents.
The department created a new campaign video using interviews from the new recruitment-based focus group.
