Brighton, N.Y. — A celebration of literacy, diversity and the magic of reading provided families with a day of learning and fun. More than 50 authors and illustrators from across the country filled Monroe Community College on Saturday for the annual Rochester Children’s Book Festival. Complementing the event was the Festival-to-Go, which brings the festival to children who may not have the opportunity to attend.

“I think we just want to prove that books have not died,” said Ronny Frishman. “They are alive and well and kid literature is becoming more diverse with lots of diverse authors and it's an exciting time.”
