It’s the coffee cup that launched a hundred thousand memes, and now it has died a quick, painless death. You didn’t really even have to be all that eagle-eyed of aduring the Winterfell victory party scene. It was practically the central focus of the shot, and everyone wondered how on earth it made it through not just filming, but post-production.
HBO issued a lighthearted statement confirming that yes, it was in fact an accident and not some sort of easter egg or inside joke, and said “Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.” Later, Thrones producer Bernie CaufieldNow, the cup is gone. HBOwhich you can see below, or see for yourself live, because the episode that is now uploaded on HBO GO and NOW is the new, cup-free version.
Will we see any more goofs in the final two episodes here? I guess we’ll have to wait and see if we can spot an airplane flying above Drogon or Arya leaving her AirPods in.
