Palo Alto native Molly Tuttle leads her superb Golden Highway band through the first of two sold-out shows at Guild Theatre in Menlo Park.

Tuttle’s vocals were superb and her acoustic fret work was nothing short of spellbinding — demonstrating that, without a doubt, the Bay Area can now lay claim to yet another major guitar hero. So go ahead and add her name to the list alongside Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, Kirk Hammett, etc.

Standing in the middle of a row of five, with everyone situated near the front of the stage, Tuttle was all smiles as she traded leads with the other superb musicians — all of whom would get plenty of opportunities to shine during the evening. And the number of Tuttles onstage would increase by 50 percent as the band leader’s father, Jack Tuttle, joined the fray on mandolin. He sat in on “Grass Valley,” a song Molly Tuttle wrote about going to her first bluegrass festival — the Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival — with her dad.
