Residents displaced when shed fire spreads to home in Otay Mesa West [Breaking]
Residents of a San Diego home were displaced after an explosion and fire in a backyard shed spread to the house Friday morning, a San Diego fire official said.
The call came in just before 7 a.m., San Diego Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Tommy Charpentier told OnScene TV, which reported the fire was on Kelalan Drive, a cul de sac that ends near state Route 905 in Otay Mesa West. Charpentier said crews arrived to find “accumulated materials” in the shed completely engulfed in fire, which was spreading to vehicles on the side of the home and in the driveway. The flames also spread into the attic of the home.He said the people in the home had heard an explosion, saw the fire and evacuated. He said windows had broken in a neighboring home. OnScene reported that its windows had been blown out.The cause of the fire is undetermined, Charpentier said.
