A multi-state coalition led by Arizona is reportedly investigating Apple for violating deceptive trade practice laws by intentionally slowing down older iPhones with aging batteries, according to a report
Apple has not yet responded to a request for comment.Reuters’ report on the multi-state probe came as CEO Tim Cook came under scrutiny from Congressional lawmakers Wednesday, as the tech leader took part in an antitrust hearing with other top tech CEOs.
Cook, who was called to testify about Apple’s allegedly anti-competitive practices regarding its App Store, used histo defend the company and its products more broadly, saying that the company has made “ourselves and our customers a promise—a promise that we will only build things that make us proud.
