How a local family is carrying the stories and legacy of their father who was a combat medic on D-Day
) - June 6, 1944. The day allied armed forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. To most, D-Day is known as the largest seaborne invasion in military history. To once local family, this day will never be forgotten.
Born and raised in the small town of Coffeeville, Alabama, Reeves enlisted in the army on Dec. 18, 1942. On that cloudy day in Normandy, Reeves told his daughter that he noticed the water around him soon changed colors.
