at the intersection of Houston and St. Mary's streets in San Antonio went on strike Thursday, on one of the company's busiest days.
Thursday is the coffee chain's"Red Cup Day," in which it gives away free holiday cups with the purchase of a hot beverage. In what is being called the"Red Cup Rebellion," workers from more than 100 locations in the U.S. went on strike, including the downtown San Antonio location, to protest working conditions. The strike is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Friday.
The downtown location was the first in the Alamo City to join the Starbucks Workers United union earlier this year.
