The recent deaths of Ayden Rose Burt and Thomas "TJ" Weaver marked the second and third fatalities involving out-of-town visitors. The first incident occurred in May when Heidi Silkworth was fatally struck by a stray bullet while visiting for a graduation.
"From a perception standpoint, it's not a good look," she said. "Perception is reality. If we're trying to attract more locals to downtown, we need to ensure we are exploring every solution." "Whether it's heightened police presence or a network of security cameras, these are the kinds of measures we've been advocating for," she said. "We will be at the table every single day."
