During his collegiate years, Kendrick initially arrived at Clemson in the role of a wide receiver as a true freshman. In 15 games as a receiver, he brought in 15 catches for 210 yards.Before the start of his sophomore year at Clemson, he was placed as a cornerback for emergency purposes but impressed the coaches so much he was locked into a role in the secondary. In his first year as a corner, he would secure 44 tackles, two interceptions, five passes defended, and a defensive touchdown.
