RacistInChief trends after Trump tells lawmakers to 'go back' to where they 'came from'
After Donald Trump told four progressive Democrats to"go back" to where they came from in a tweet on Sunday, Twitter exploded with users rebuking the president as"racist," making the hashtags #RacistInChief and #TrumpIsARacist trend across America.
Trump did not specify exactly which progressive congresswomen he was referring to. However, most agreed that his comments were directed at the four members of the so-called"Squad," consisting of first-term Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez , Ilhan Omar , Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley . Despite the president's apparent claim that these lawmakers were all foreign-born, only Omar — who came to the U.S. as a child after her family fled their home nation — was born outside America.
