Amid the casting backlash, Rachel Zegler remains focused on what's important about playing the lead in Disney's live-action Snow White film.
Rachel Zegler makes her stance firm about the Snow White casting backlash with one request to her fans. Continuing efforts to remake Disney animated classics for modern viewers, the House of Mouse is taking on its first feature-length animated feature and adapt it into live-action. Zegler will play the titular princess, Snow White, opposite Gal Gadot's Evil Queen.
Disney's live-action Snow White is set to release in March 2024, but despite being months away from the premiere, Zegler takes to her official Twitter account to comment on the ongoing casting backlash and asks her fans a simple request. Check out her post below: SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT For context, the upcoming Snow White film has been criticized for a couple of things, including by Peter Dinklage, who has questioned how the seven dwarves will be portrayed. Others, however, have taken issue with Zegler's casting, considering she is of Colombian descent.
What To Expect From Disney's Live-Action Snow White Directed by Marc Webb, with the script written by Barbie's Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, the live-action Snow White project is billed as a musical fantasy film. Plans for this adaptation were first publicized in 2016 but with a string of other projects with the same nature under the Disney banner, not to mention the coronavirus pandemic, production for the project didn't start until March 2022.
The first look at Snow White was debuted during D23 Expo 2022. Unfortunately, marketing materials for the film were exclusively released for convention-goers only, leaving the rest of the public still waiting for any official promos for the project. As its release date nears, however, expect that Disney will start to promote the endeavor sooner rather than later.
