Questions are mounting over the installation of new buoys in the Rio Grande.

The initial 1,000-foot stretch of buoys outside Eagle Pass was a project funded by Texas taxpayers to the tune of $1 million.

However, when our news helicopter surveyed the river on Friday, the new buoys were nowhere to be seen.Several sources with knowledge of the installation tell us that the state initially placed the buoys in the water, but subsequently removed them. Abbott posted several videos of the buoys being carried on trucks, secured, and dropped into the water near the riverbank.Governor Abbott, Trump's border czar Homan serve meals to service members

Martinez, who has been studying the environmental impact of the original barrier, did not observe any new buoys during her recent fieldwork. She says any additions to the buoys could change the way water flows in the Rio Grande and cause more erosion."Eventually, we will get a shallower area there, that is able to sustain vegetation, turning that area into an island," she said.

In contrast, Governor Abbott's office maintains that the buoys have been effective and that Texas has the legal right to deploy them, with plans to increase their number.
