Queen makes rare surprise public appearance as she opens Elizabeth Line
Monarch rarely carries out public engagements outside of her royal residences and carried a walking cane. Attendance not announced in advance, but organisers told there was possibility she might be able to attend.
An hour and a quarter before Edward's arrival workers replaced his plaque with one bearing Queen's name. Queen rallied to make trip to Windsor Horse Show on Friday and on Sunday attended another riding event. But today's engagement is the first outside of the Windsor area since she attended Prince Philip's memorial
