Russia’s prime minister announced his and his government’s resignation, after President Vladimir Putin suggested changing the way they are chosen
MOSCOW—Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced his and his government’s resignation Wednesday, after President Vladimir Putin suggested changing the way the prime minister and government are chosen.
Mr. Medvedev will stay on as prime minister until the new government is formed, Mr. Putin said on state television. He added that Mr. Medvedev would be offered the newly created post of deputy chairman of Russia’s security council.
