Check your bags! Purina is expanding its recall of select dry dog food due to potentially elevated levels of Vitamin D, the company has announced.

The recall is for Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EL Elemental prescription dry dog food, and for both 8-pound and 20-pound bags of the product. Purina says purchasers can verify the products by their UPC Codes and Production Codes, listed on the back bottom of the packaging. For the 8-pound bags, the UPC Code is 38100 19190 and the Production Code is 2213 1082. For the 20-pound bags, the UPC Code is 38100 19192 and the Production Code is 2214 1082.

“We apologize to pet owners and veterinarians for any concerns or inconvenience this situation has caused,” the company said in its original release. “As pet experts and pet owners ourselves, the health and well-being of pets is our top priority.”for assistance in getting a refund, according to the company.
