Public editor answers why does the News have an opinion section anyway?
publishes 13 editorials and dozens of columns and letters, so not surprisingly, I regularly get reader questions about all that content. In this piece, we’ll try to answer some of the most frequent queries:Publisher and President Grant Moise. Every year, the newspaper weighs in on 35 to 40 local and statewide political races. Instead of “endorsements,” Bush says,calls these “recommendations” because “We are not putting our whole stamp and promise behind these candidates. Very often, our recommendations are cautious and with caveats and full of every sort of nuance.”
