A PSNI officer has escaped death by mere millimetres after being stabbed in the throat, according to Assistant Chief Constable Bobby Singleton
.Another officer was also injured during that attack, having been cut in the face.
"Unfortunately that is becoming the norm and is a reflection potentially of the different complexity that officers have to wrestle with in terms of an increasingly violent society." "Anybody placed in this situation is obviously going to be struck themselves by just how close they've come to potential loss of life.
ACC Singleton said that these sorts of situations were becoming much more commonplace for officers and that they presented their own difficulties.
