The college's professors must submit their resumes by Jan. 20 to apply to keep their jobs after the two schools merge later this year.
Professors at the college have until Jan. 20 to submit their resumes, a spokesperson for Montclair State University said.
“We envision a distinctive educational experience for students who will attend Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, one that will require dedicated and supportive employees. So the university will do all it can to employ as many Bloomfield faculty and staff as possible to help create that environment,” Mees said.
“We weren’t invited to apply for a position. We were invited to express interest in a faculty position. There are no job descriptions on offer. We have no information on rank, salary, tenure, length of appointment, or even who specifically will be retained,” Murphy added. “It will be too late to start a job search in March for a July termination. So, faculty and staff are scrambling for jobs now and many faculty may have already accepted offers at other institutions by the time Montclair State makes them an offer,” Murphy said.no guarantees were being made to keep Bloomfield College’s employees in their jobs
“In addition, we have asked the college to provide current job descriptions for full-time staff, as well as any information about any additional responsibilities held by faculty outside of their normal course load, including things like serving as the chairperson of a department,” Mees said.
