To impose a particular religious belief on every woman is contrary to why Europeans came to America in the first place and is tantamount to establishing a religion.
PennLive Letters to the Editor
Most opposition to abortion is for religious, ethical, or moral reasons. But denying a woman the right to decide about her own body is vastly different than other religious rules. When a fetus becomes fully human is opinion, not fact. Not all Christians believe it is at conception. Jewish teaching is at birth. Islamic thought is the soul enters on the 120th day after conception. Therefore, to impose a particular religious belief on every woman is contrary to why Europeans came to America in the first place and is tantamount to establishing a religion.
The “pro-life” believers say it’s about saving a human life, but it is not. It is about the pregnancy. If they cared about human life, they would pour energy into robust development of adoption agencies, social support for needy families, education, and general welfare of all children so no child would be born with the risk of poverty and poor educational opportunities.
