A High Court justice has decided that Prince Harry must accept the government’s decision to bar him from paying for his own police protection in the UK—but he still has an outstanding claim over the initial decision to strip his publicly-funded security.

In ruling against the prince, Chamberlain sided with RAVEC’s assessment that “it was not appropriate to support an outcome whereby wealthy individuals could ‘buy’ Protective Security from specialist police officers , in circumstances where RAVEC has determined that the public interest does not warrant that individual receiving such Protective Security on a publicly-funded basis.

Ultimately, it’s a sign that Harry is still fighting the battles that kicked off when he and Meghan first announced their decision to “ ” from their roles as working royals in early January 2020. In Chamberlain’s Tuesday decision, he noted that Harry’s claim originated from an offer to fund his own security at a January 13, 2020 meeting.
