President Trump and Joe Biden are scheduled for two more debates this month. Here's what you need to know about how to watch, who's moderating and what could happen in light of the president’s coronavirus diagnosis.
By WSJ Staff Updated Oct. 7, 2020 10:50 pm ET President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden are scheduled for two more debates this month. The president has said he intends to participate in next week’s debate in Miami, which comes two weeks after he first tested positive for the coronavirus.
What time are the debates, and how long will they run for? They all start at 9 p.m. ET and run for 90 minutes without commercial interruption. Will the debate happen in light of the president’s coronavirus diagnosis? The president returned to the White House from three days of hospitalization for Covid-19 on Monday evening, and on Wednesday his physician, Sean Conley, said in a memo that Mr. Trump had gone 24 hours without any coronavirus symptoms. Blood work on Monday showed “detectable levels” of Covid-19 antibodies, Dr. Conley said.
What is the format of the debates? The Commission on Presidential Debates said in June that the second presidential debate will be a town-hall style meeting in which the candidates will field questions from Florida voters. The topics aren’t yet known.
