Kate Munnerlyn leads St. Francis to SoCal tournament title, Los Gatos stays atop De Anza league
St. Francis pitcher Kate Munnerlyn, shown in a file photo, allowed just a hit and struck out 10 batters in seven innings in a 2-0 win over Canyon. The Wildcats scored 10 runs on just six hits as Mountain View struggled on the defensive end.The Falcons halted Lincoln’s late-game comeback to pick up a road win and improve to 8-5.
Down 4-1 in the seventh, Lincoln scored two runs to get within a run of sending the game to extra innings. With the bases loaded and one out, senior pitcherpitched four innings and didn’t allow a run while striking out two batters. Boles came in relief and struck out seven in three innings.High School Sports |pitched a shutout and allowed a single hit to lead St. Francis to a gritty co- championship game win over Anaheim powerhouse Canyon High School in the Michelle Carew Classic.
The Lancers would have played Norco High School in the gold bracket championship game on Saturday, but bad weather led to the tournament ending a day early and winners of the semifinal games were crowned co-championsSt. Francis beat Mission Viejo earlier in the day in the semifinals and defeated Otay Ranch and Roosevelt on Thursday.
