SAN ANTONIO - After a weeks-long hiatus to allow city staff to develop a proposed budget, the San Antonio City Council reconvened today to tackle several issues
One item discussed during Thursday's meeting would allow for pay increases for the San Antonio Mayor and City Council members. The Council voted to approve placing the salary increase proposition on the November 5th ballot, allowing voters to make the final decision. , including the review of its City Council Charter .
One of the most controversial proposals under discussion was Proposition C, which would grant the City Council the authority to set full terms for the City Manager's employment tenure and compensation. Several community members voiced strong opposition to this proposition, arguing that the position was originally designed to be independent of direct Council control for a reason.
