Did the Federal Reserve stop distributing new currency? No.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal Reserve offered holiday currency special ordering periods. That was suspended in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic. The agency said this year it will permanently discontinue the special ordering periods.
