The White House on Tuesday deflected a question about President Joe Biden's family business dealings, saying the issue was a distraction from more important considerations.
House Republicans on the oversight committee claim to have evidence Biden lied about his involvement in his family's business schemes, which a reporter asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about during the afternoon press briefing."House Republicans promised that fighting inflation was going to be their No. 1 priority," Jean-Pierre responded."That's what they said was important to them, and that's what they said they wanted to do.
Conservatives have long raised the alarm about the president's potential involvement with his son, Hunter Biden, in overseas business schemes in China and Ukraine. Biden strongly denies any such ties, but House Republicans have promised to investigate the issue now that they hold the majority in the lower chamber.Jean-Pierre said the focus on Hunter Biden won't help everyday voters."[House Republicans] don't want to focus on the American people and their families.
