It all unfolded in Linden, where the neighborhood is in shock.A beige house is what neighbors know as a home where a couple and their two children live. Police sources said there was a murder suicide there on Sunday morning. A father shot his family and then took his own life.
"Nice family. I never have any problem, there any fight, nothing. That's very, very nice person," neighbor Digna Alvarez said. Police say at around 9:30 a.m. officers located two adult victims and a child in the home. They were pronounced dead at the scene.Alvarez said another neighbor did hear the gunshots.
"She heard somebody was screaming ... but she was thinking she was playing with the dog and then no more," Alvarez said.said, in part,"We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting in Linden. This is an ongoing investigation with many questions to be answered. Linden is a strong community and we will support them however possible as they mourn and recover."
Linden's mayor said, in part,"Please keep all in our prayers. There simply are no words to describe the trauma, heartbreak, and sorrow we are all experiencing."CBS2 was told the two children that lived in the Chatham Place house did go to local public schools. CBS2 reached out to the schools superintendent, but no comment was offered.
