At least 50 armed robberies have been carried out between Dec. 7-10, the Chicago Police Department reported in an alert to residents on the city’s North and West sides.
Police said that in each incident, victims are either on foot or seated inside a vehicle when they’re approached by two-to-four armed males who demand the victims’ personal belongings. The offenders are believed to be Black, between the ages of 15 and 30 who wear dark clothing, hoodies, and black ski masks.2400 block of W Fullerton Ave. on Dec. 7, 2022 at approximately 2:08 am.2700 block of W Augusta Blvd. on Dec. 7, 2022 at approximately 3:05 am.2700 block of N Central Ave. on Dec.
No injuries were reported and four people believed to have been in that stolen vehicle were later located and taken into custody. Police said they recovered three firearms from inside that vehicle, but it’s not immediately clear if this incident is connected to any of the armed robberies referenced in the community alert.
