UPDATE: Police now say two men died in the crash on I-495 Monday night involving a Ford and a tractor. An investigation is now underway.
The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that left two men dead on Monday night in Wilmington, Delaware.
A 45-year-old man and a 52-year-old man, both from Wilmington, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. On June 26 at approximately 4:41 p.m., a Ford Ranger sideswiped a tractor on I-495 causing the car to spin out of control toward the right shoulder and hit the concrete embankment under the 12th Street overpass and overturned the Ford onto the grass shoulder, police said.
The tractor was traveling in the right lane of I-495 southbound toward the 12th Street overpass at the same time that the Ford Ranger was traveling, at what police say was a high rate of speed, in the center lane of I-495 also toward the overpass. The Ford then entered the right lane and hit the tractor.Both the driver of the Ford and the passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
