Sad news to report

Police have confirmed the death of a festival-goer attending this year's Download Festival. The popular festival took place from Thursday, June 8, to Sunday, June 11, at Donington Park.

It was the 20th anniversary of the event and attracted more than 120,000 people, many camping on the site from Wednesday to Monday. On-site medics and the police were called to a tent on one of the campsites on Monday - the day most of the revellers were leaving the site - after concerns about the welfare of a man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Derbyshire Live reports.

A North West Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "On Monday morning, officers received a call for the welfare of a man in a tent at the festival in Castle Donington. They attended along with on-site medical responders. However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A concerned fan, who did not wish to be identified, said he was worried about the number of medical emergencies that took place across the event over the hot and sunny weekend. He added that he was aware there had been a death on the campsite, which he said was "horrific news to hear". Derbyshire Live has approached Download for a comment on the man's death.
