Plano's Kellyn Acosta is determined to make it back on the international stage to represent the United States at World Cup 2026.

Plano's Kellyn Acosta, pictured here July 25, 2021 when the United States beat Jamaica 1-0 in the Gold Cup quarterfinals at Arlington's AT&T Stadium, hopes to regain his footing with the U.S. men's national team.Kellyn Acosta remembers the feeling of playing in his hometown at FC Dallas as one of the team’s top players from 2013-18.

“It was something that was super special and something that I took a lot of responsibility for. I was super excited and proud to be there and to play for the team.”The tech-driven training TOCA provides is something Acosta wishes he had at a young age. “It was something I lacked growing up, and so to actually have this training, even now, is something that is influential,” he said. “I am excited for younger players to access it and to build and grow. TOCA as a business is huge.”The 28 year-old midfielder grew up in Plano, playing for FC Dallas’ youth academy before signing a first team homegrown contract in 2012.

“I am hoping to continue on the pathway to be in 2026 right here on home soil,” Acosta said. “That is what I have my sights on currently, and I am hoping to achieve that.”“As the is getting better and better, there is going to be more and more expectations on us, especially being on home soil for 2026,” Acosta said.

“Everyone has high expectations for us to perform well,” Acosta added. “It will be up to us to execute that on the field.”“There are always high expectations, but it is something we just shoulder as athletes,” he said. “We embrace adversity, challenges, and change.”, Sports Desk Intern.
