Photographer Barry Lewis has revisited the photos he took during a 1991 trip to Siberia of the brutal Soviet Gulag system.

The Gulags were a repressive system of forced labor camps in the Soviet Union that cost the lives of millions of people.arrived in Siberia in 1991 during the glasnost era when the USSR embraced a more open attitude.
