Our mission-driven staff has been doing everything in its power to responsibly accelerate a pandemic-relief program that we believed was moving too slowly to help Pennsylvania homeowners access funds for mortgage and housing-related expenses.

Earlier this spring, the Pennsylvania Homeowner Finance Agency moved the full management of the Pennsylvania Homeowner Assistance Fund from a third-party contractor to our in-house team. Since that time, our mission-driven staff has been doing everything in its power to responsibly accelerate a pandemic-relief program that we believed was moving too slowly to help Pennsylvania homeowners access funds for mortgage and housing-related expenses.

Additionally, in July, PHFA took its message directly to homeowners by hosting 14 community-based events across the state. Using neighborhood gathering places like local libraries, corner bodegas and community colleges, PHFA staff delivered hands-on help to PAHAF homeowners. These events also provided information about other resources available to help homeowners while they wait.

To further assist homeowners at greatest risk, PHFA is providing dedicated access to courts and tax claim bureaus. We’re working with the courts to address PAHAF homeowners facing imminent judicial proceedings, along with tax claim bureaus handling sheriff sales, to create a dedicated process for escalated review and resolution.
