Former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll joins the Las Vegas Raiders as their new head coach.
The Las Vegas Raiders have a new head coach in Pete Carroll , according to reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news early Friday on social media. Schefter stated that the agreement is a three-year deal with the option for a fourth year, citing sources. The 73-year-old Carroll will once again become the oldest coach in the league.
He spent a decade coaching the Seattle Seahawks, leading them to two Super Bowls and one Vince Lombardi Trophy in 2014 before departing in 2023. His arrival at the Raiders comes as a bit of a twist, considering the team is partly owned by Tom Brady, who famously defeated Carroll and the Seahawks in the Super Bowl ten years ago. Brady witnessed firsthand the Patriots' victory as Malcolm Butler intercepted a pass from Russell Wilson at the goal line to seal the deal. The Raiders parted ways with coach Antonio Pierce after a 4-13 season in his first full year at the helm. Pierce had a 5-4 record as an interim coach in 2023, replacing Josh McDaniels.
