Kevin Hilton committed the offence in Whalley Road, Accrington on September 2019. The victim, who is in her 30s, has the mental age of a child and was lured by Kevin into his van.
Hilton, 55, then kissed and groped the vulnerable woman. It was following extensive enquiries that he was identified, using his DNA and through the delivery van he was driving.Initially, Hilton denied sexually assaulting he victim during a police interview, claiming he only touched her whilst helping her into his van. He did however, accept that he knew she was vulnerable.
The perpetrator went on trial at Preston Crown Court and was found guilty of sexual assault. Last week, Hilton of Pyrus Close in Eccles, appeared at the same court where he was jailed for 21 months and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. Sgt Alex Summers, from East Division, said: “Hilton committed this appalling offence against a woman he knew full well was vulnerable. We are committed to protecting woman and girls from all forms of violence and will work tirelessly to identify and put the perpetrators of such offences before the courts, no matter how long it takes.”
