A new Pentagon report highlights China's growing nuclear capabilities, estimating its operational warhead count at approximately 600 with a projected increase to 1,000 by 2030. The report expresses concern over the deployment of these warheads at higher readiness levels and the development of advanced weaponry, including the H-20 stealth bomber. It warns that China's expanding nuclear force could target US cities, military installations, and leadership sites in a potential conflict.
China has continued the rapid development of its nuclear weapon arsenal and it has accumulated approximately 600 operational warheads, as per a recent report released by the Pentagon – which also sheds light on its H-20 stealth bomber program and more.
The more worrying factor is that the report predicts that most of these 1,000 nuclear warheads will be “deployed at higher readiness levels.” This is part of the People’s Liberation Army plan to have a completely modernized army by 2049.The Military and Security Developments involving the People’s Republic of China report released by the Pentagon on Wednesday lists the key points which the US lawmakers should take note of.
The report states the Beijing “probably will use its new fast breeder reactors and reprocessing facilities to produce plutonium for its nuclear weapons, and in due course its expanding nuclear force “will enable it to target more US cities, military facilities, and leadership sites than ever before in a potential nuclear conflict.”
Moreover, it also states that has probably completed constructing one of its two CFR-600 sodium-cooled fast breeder nuclear reactors at Xiapu and continues to build the second.
