Local leaders expressed 'extreme concern' that the post did not represent the local community.

BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA - JULY 13: Secret Service agents surround Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump onstage after he was injured at a rally on July 13, 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania .

“That social media post, and comments following, were grossly inappropriate, expressing approval of the violent attempt on former President Trump’s life,” the borough wrote in a Facebook post. “However, grossly inappropriate language condoning political violence, which violates the oath every public official takes to uphold the Constitution and laws of our country, our state and our borough, forfeits the confidence of our public that such official may continue to serve,” the borough wrote.
