Penn State Health said in a statement, 'It became apparent to us that the ongoing challenges we have faced to keep the programs running make closing them the right course of action at this time.'

Penn State Health announced Tuesday that it's ending its kidney and liver transplant programs at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center .Earlier this month, the health system paused the liver transplant program to undergo a performance review with the United Network for Organ Sharing. It was the second transplant hiatus since 2021.
