AUSTIN — Pearland arrived at the state tournament with plenty of momentum, claiming 20 consecutive victories on its journey to the pinnacle.Pearland kept its banner season rolling with a 3-2 triumph against San Benito in the UIL Class 6A semifinals Saturday evening at Red and Charline McCombs Field at UT-Austin.The Oilers, making their first state appearance since 2016, haven’t been dealt a loss since falling to crosstown rival Dawson on March 10.
The Oilers did not record their first hit of the contest until a double from junior Raenna Liscano in the sixth inning. But they were able to take advantage of walks and miscues by San Benito to push just enough runs across the plate.
